This converter re-saves a JPG (JPEG) image as a PNG. PNG uses lossless compression, so no further quality is lost in the conversion, and it supports transparency for images that need it later. The image is decoded and re-encoded with the Canvas API inside your browser, so it is never sent to a server. Note that a PNG made from a JPG is usually larger than the original, because PNG does not discard detail the way JPG does.
