About this tool

The Image Cropper lets you trim an image to just the part you want. Drag the selection handles for a free-form crop, or choose a fixed ratio such as 1:1 for profile pictures, 16:9 for video thumbnails or 4:3 and 3:2 for prints. The crop is applied at the image's full resolution using the Canvas API in your browser, and you can save the result as JPG, PNG or WebP. Nothing is uploaded.

Benefits & use cases

  • Make square profile and product images from any photo.
  • Cut out distractions and focus on the subject.
  • Create thumbnails and banners at the exact ratio a platform needs.
  • Straighten framing before publishing or printing.

Frequently asked questions

Does cropping upload my image?

No. The crop is done in your browser with the Canvas API and the image never leaves your device.

Is the cropped image lower resolution?

Only in the sense that it contains fewer pixels because it's a smaller area. The kept region stays at the original resolution.

Can I crop to a size a website asks for?

Choose the matching aspect ratio here, then use the Image Resizer to set the exact pixel dimensions.

Which formats can I open and save?

Open JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP or AVIF. Save as JPG, PNG or WebP.
